Hesam Sabetian, an Iranian-American artist based in Sacramento, California, is an accomplished abstract painter and Persian calligrapher recognized for his unique fusion of traditional and modern art forms. His work spans a rich variety of styles, skillfully integrating the elegance of Persian calligraphy with the expressive freedom of abstract painting. Through this blend, he creates pieces that honor cultural heritage while exploring contemporary artistic expression, resonating with audiences across different backgrounds and art forms.
Holding a "Momtaz" (master’s level) certification in Nast'liq, Shekasteh, and Ketabat calligraphy, earned in Tehran in 1981, he has since demonstrated his professional expertise through numerous exhibitions and publications. His mastery in these traditional forms has allowed him to build a distinguished career, showcasing his art both nationally and internationally, and contributing to the preservation and evolution of Persian calligraphy within the contemporary art world. Relocating to Sacramento marked a transformative period in Sabetian's artistic journey, during which he mastered calligram styles and pioneered new fusion techniques in painting, bringing his unique creativity to the forefront. This shift deepened his interest in painting, inspired by a lifelong admiration for the beauty of nature—a theme reflected in his vibrant color palette and organic shapes. His work has been widely exhibited in cultural events across the United States and featured in prestigious venues such as Seyhoun Gallery in Los Angeles and Art Visalia Gallery in Visalia, CA, as well as in private exhibitions and charity events supporting diverse causes. |
